Workplace Safety and Prevention: Forklift Training
Since we consider safety and prevention of great importance, we are committed to continuously training our employees to work safely on the shop floor. With this approach, we naturally also comply with the regulations set by the government, which are solely intended to ensure our safety.
In accordance with the law of August 4, 1996 concerning the use of mobile work equipment, all employees using forklifts within our company must undergo appropriate training for the safe use of (mobile) work equipment. Anyone using these means performs a safety function and is required to undergo periodic health examinations.
When?
In the first week of October 2018, we collaborated with “The Nestor”. This organization specializes in transport, logistics, and safety. In our case, they came to our facility to provide us with forklift safety training.

How did it work?
The training consisted of a theoretical part in the morning and a practical part in the afternoon, both concluding with an exam.
In the morning We have learned everything about the forklifts in the company. This includes safe driving on the work floor, safety regulations, and vehicle maintenance. We also gained practical knowledge, such as how the vehicles should be checked for safety and durability. At the end of the morning, the employees took a theoretical exam of 30 questions to test if they understood the theory well.
In the afternoon completed the practical part. All employees who need to use a forklift in their job took a practical exam to demonstrate that they possess the sufficient skills to operate a forklift safely.
